Biking Trip To Golden Gate Bridge

After taking a short tour of the SFO in our cars, we decided to park the car. Finding a parking spot was really tough, but we finally managed to find one.
Our friends had rented out bikes so that we could bike all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge and capture the beautiful locations on the way and at our destination.
But I was just not able to ride a bike. I kept falling off the bike and chickened out last minute. So we asked our frens to go ahead and bike to the Golden Gate Bridge, while me and husband decided to walk around the SFO streets by ourselves.
I am so glad I sent them ahead, because they captured some great shots for my blog, which I am sharing today.
Hope you like them.

P.S. Special Thanks to Jaya and Manoj for the gorgeous clicks.

Travel Post: Weekend Trip To San Francisco

After our visit to the Seal Beach, the next weekend, we decided to visit San Francisco. My husband's best friend and his wife whom we met at Pismo Beach were kind enough to host us for the weekend and be our guide.

They picked us up at the SFO airport and first drove us along the steep, uneven roads surrounded by towering buildings.

San Francisco...the cultural, commercial and financial center of Northern California, is a city on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay.

It's hilly landscape, iconic architecture, Victorian houses and cool summers work its charm on every visitor, who want to live here forever. No wonder it is also as the Paris of the West.

This city worked its charm on me as well, and within a few hours, I was enamored by its persona.

The weather was perfect and the company even better.

Tips while playing tourist in SFO:
  • Wear flats, or your most comfortable shoes. Too much walking involved, so be prepared.
  • Carry a jacket for cooler evenings.
  • Start the day early, so that you get a good parking spot, which is very tough to find.
  • Keep a map handy or use google maps, as it is very easy to get lost on the steep lanes of SFO city.
  • Renting out bikes would be the best option to move around the city.
  • Make sure you rent out Go-Cars atleast for a few hours for sight seeing.
These are random pics we clicked on the go.
Hope you like them.

Outfit post courtesy Weavesmart.com

Hello Everyone...

I have always maintained that sarees are the best thing that have happened to women.

Feminine, classy, stylish and one size fits all.
If this, wasn't the answer to women's prayer from heaven, then what was?

A few months ago, I had received a beautiful Pochampally saree from Weavesmart, but due to my impromptu travel plan, I was unable to do an outfit post.
But better late than never.
I just can't tell you how much I love this saree. The fabric of this cotton saree is thicker than most of my cotton sarees and I love the way it falls on my body. The colour, the print and the fabric just make me fall in love with it every time I see it.
When I saw this saree, something about it, reminded me of Vidya Balan, and so I thought I would style it the way Vidya does. With a long sleeves blouse and minimal accessories.
Of course I already had some love handles and curves (read fats) to match up to Vidya's.
So the outfit shoot on the Kunkeshwar beach; our second stop at my native place, was a piece of cake.

Inclusion of the Chafa flowers native to Sindhudurg, that I had picked up from the ground, was a last minute decision. But I am so glad I did. What do you think?

Wearing sarees on the beach is becoming "My Thing", don't you think so? ;)

Marilyn on my Tips

I haven't posted a nail art post for the longest time, and the reason being, I haven't had the time to do any in the recent past. Of course I paint my nails every week, but  nail art has taken  a back seat due to my growing impatience.

So a few months back, when I caught up with my buddy,  Manisha of Mani Matters, I forced her to do my nails.
And being the nail art expert that she is, she did a fantastic job.
I had so much fun seeing her create amazing patterns on my nails using nail stamps and sequins.
I had just one instruction for her. I wanted Marilyn Monroe on my tips. The rest just fell in place.
The end result was more than perfect.
Thank You so much Manisha. You are a sweetheart and a fantastic artist.
Manisha used the below to complete this nail art.

1. OPI My Vampire: Buff polish
2. Konad Black stamping polish
3. Black sequins
4. Born Pretty Store Stamping plate  - BP-L016
5. Seche Vite Fast dry top coat

Asian Paints #StatementFurniture Bloggers Meet

Last week, I was invited to attend an event at the Asian Paint Signature Store in Bandra.
I had visited this Store exactly a year ago, when we were designing our new home, and we had found such great options for colours, textures and wallpapers too.
I was more keen to visit the store this time, as the meet promised to focus on the idea of transforming mundane furniture in our homes, to #StatementFurniture.
The event started with a tour of the #BandraStore. Though I had visited this store last year, most of the things at the store were different this time. That is because the #AsianPaints #ColourStoreBandra is updated and redone every few months to reflect the latest styles, designs  an concepts in the design industry.
From paints, textures, design walls, to cozy set ups of coffee table, kitchens, bedrooms, lounge areas and kids room; they have everything on display.
I strongly recommend that if you are ever doing your house, a visit to the Asian Paints Signature Store is a must, for design inspirations.
As we move to the #Woodcafe, we saw how wooden furniture pieces were transformed with the use of nothing but colour with Asian Paints #IdeasonWood concept.
Whether it was a coffee table, a desk or a cabinet, everything can be given a different look and feel with Asian Paints latest paint technology.
Later, we were shown a PowerPoint presentation, where old furniture pieces were given a makeover by the Asian Paints design team, and they had transformed it using only paint.

With this presentation Asian Paints won our hearts, as who wouldn't want to give their existing furniture a new look and life instead of discarding it?

Asian Paints has two more signature stores, one at Kolkata and Delhi.
