Recipe: Phodnichi Poli

Breaking my Blogging hiatus with this post.
T
hese are unusual times and I just hope everyone stays safe.

This is a humble recipe that comes from Marathi households. It is generally prepared for breakfast with left over rotis/polis from the previous day.
I really loved this recipe as a child and wanted my daughter to love it too.
So I decided to make it with freshly made polis.
T
he below quantity serves 1 toddler. You can increase the quantities as per your portion size.

Ingredients:
2-3 curry leaves
1/2 a teaspoon of mustard seeds
1 poli/roti, broken into small pieces
1/2 onion, 1 tomato, cilantro finely chopped
8-10 groundnuts broken into small pieces in a mortar and pestle
a
pinch of hing and haldi
oil, red chilly powder, salt as per your preference. You can replace
oil with ghee if you like.

Procedure:
In a non stick pan, pour some oil/ghee.
Once its hot, add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Once they start to splutter, add hing, haldi and finely
chopped onions.
Saute for 2 minutes, then add the groundnuts and tomatoes and continue to saute for a few more minutes. Then add red chilly powder, salt and cilantro along with the poli pieces.
Saute and coat the poli pieces completely with the masala. And voila its done.
You can also add a pinch of sugar and few drops of lime juice if you like. But I prefer to skip it. This is such a simple recipe, easy to make and yummy to taste.

Hope you try this simple recipe and if you do, let me know how it turned out.
