June Ready!

Can you believe, its June already? I know time flies, but time seems to be flying surprisingly faster in this pandemic. And what surprises more is that Newton's Law of relativity doesn't even apply here. Coz I am definitely not having fun being confined at home.

June also happens to be the time school reopens,  and I am keeping my fingers crossed that Ishanvi enjoys her online school just like she did last year. But that also means I lose out on 2
hours of my morning time, since I have to attend online school along with her. :(

Monsoons will soon arrive and I am glad I don't have to step out of the house thanks to the pandemic. So I can just stay at home, watch the rain, smell the wet soil and eat bhajiyas.

Now that we are on the eating topic, it reminds me, that Mango season is going to end soon and it makes me sad. But the silver lining is now I don't have to kill myself over excessively indulging in my favourite fruit. Because the one rule that I have always followed in my entire life is Mango calories don't count. You eat as much as you want, whenever you want.

Would you believe if I told you that I haven't shopped a single thing for myself since March 2020? So, for outfit posts, I am relying heavily on borrowed stuff. Case in point, today's outfit.

This Saree is a Gadhwal silk saree borrowed from my sister. It happens to be the first saree she bought, and as usual I have worn it more times than she has. And the best part is she doesn't even complain. She's happy someone is using it and her money is not totally wasted. Well...works for me...Perfectly.

The clutch I am carrying here was sent to me by PerfectCutt. I love the finishing and fine craftsmanship and the fact that its maroon helps me pair it with most of my traditional outfits.

Mother's Day Celebrations At Home

Another Year being a Mother.
And another year of being used to the fact that no one is surprising me or celebrating me on Mother's Day.

Well, even when things were normal we never went out on Mother's Day, so celebrating Mother's Day at home this year too will not feel any different.

But what's different this year is that we have been indoors for more than a year now. And it's getting harder every day to explain a 3 year old that we do not know how much longer we will have to stay indoors.

I feel like the past 1 year Ishanvi and I have done so much home schooling and indoor activities that we could very well write a book on things to do at home with a toddler.

So, a little celebration to break the monotony will not hurt anyone.

Below are the things I am planning to do on Mother's Day :

  • Telling Ishanvi how they cut my tummy to get her out, so that she starts respecting me and understands that her mom needs alone time too.
  • Guiding her to make a Mother's day card for me, because husband will never take the efforts to do that.
  • Order a cake, because I am sick and tired of baking from last year.
  • Ordering food from a restaurant, because its so important to support local businesses. ;)
  • And of course visiting my mom's place so that I can indulge in some mom made tasty food. After all, its all about loving moms right?

On another note, I had mentioned in my last post that I have picked up one more fabric from Fabcurate, and I again made a saree and matching outfit for Ishanvi and me to twin.
I picked up t
his beautiful White and Olive Polka Dots Digital Print Japan Satin Fabric, and let me tell you it was love at first sight. I made a beautiful saree out of it and trust me it's already my favourite from my entire saree collection. Ishanvi's matching outfit turned out cute too.

Let me know, if you like it..

Mother's Day Special: Twinning Outfits Courtesy Fabcurate

As promised in my last post, today I am going to reveal what I bought from Fabcurate.
Like I have mentioned before, I was having a tough time choosing what I like, coz seriously I was spoiled for choice and I literally loved everything they had.
Then I decided to simplify the process by asking myself, what I have wanted to buy for the longest time, but couldn't due to some reason.
Bingo....Florals was the answer.
My next question, what fabric would I like?
Frankly, I am a huge fan of organza and I have been wanting to buy it for the longest time but I haven't yet, because I have owned organza fabrics in the past and I found them a bit tough to carry. Also, Fabcurate's collection of organza fabrics was making me literally crave it.

But, I finally decided on Japan Satin. They are easy to carry and always look so beautiful.
I have always loved the soft and shiny texture and it's fall makes it perfect for sarees.
Since now my search was narrowed down I could focus better.
Fabcurate has the most stunning floral printed fabrics and after a lot of going back and forth, I zeroed down on this Dark Brown and Peach Floral Pattern Digital Print Japan Satin Fabric.

We used the fabric to create a saree and a summer dress for my daughter Ishanvi and had so much fun twinning.
The best part about choosing this fabric was that Ishanvi loved the feel of it on her body and wasn't at all irritable. It's buttery soft and very comfortable for kids to wear.
So scroll down to see how we wore it.
Right on time, before Mother's Day.

But this is not it, there's one more fabric I bought.

But to know about that, you will have to wait a bit longer.

Fabcurate: A Solution to all your Fabric Sourcing Needs

''In a world full of trends, I want to remain a classic. ''

As simple as this quote sounds, it is easier said than done. In today's fast world, everyone wants to own the latest trends, latest designs and latest gadgets and they want it fast, because you know fashion changes really fast, and most want to be at the top of their game always.
I have to admit that I have been guilty of this, especially in my 20's for obvious reasons. I was young, carefree and earning my own money. But over the years I realized that most pieces I bought would go out of fashion very quickly and since the clothes were hardly used, I felt bad to dispose them off. That's when I realized and decided I needed to build a classic and staple wardrobe, that I could even pass on to my daughter. I stopped my bulk purchases from the malls and restricted them to only special or emergency occasions. I started buying fabrics of my choice and then got them tailor stitched to suit my likes and body type. I kept my purchases in check by mostly wearing stuff borrowed from my mom and sister.
While this process made be more mindful and less anxious, it also got me addicted to the process of sourcing the right fabrics for my outfits. I loved my trips to Crawford market, Nalli's and Gandhi Market in Mumbai in search of the perfect fabric. But with Covid everything changed. I haven't shopped for fabrics for, I don't even remember how long.

So, when the people at Fabcurate approached me for a collaboration, I literally felt like my prayers were answered.
Fabcurate is India's largest online fabric store that ships worldwide. Based out of Surat, Gujarat-the textile capital of the country, Fabcurate sources fabrics directly from traditional fabric merchants who are the masters of traditional craft.

Fabcurate came into existence recognizing the need of making the best fabrics available to all the creators out there without any “MINIMUM QUANTITY LIMIT”. Yes, that's right!
Fabcurate doesn’t only give you a plethora of premium fabrics to choose from but also gives you an opportunity to order the quantity of your choice.

One look at the website and I felt like a kid in a candy store. I was literally spoiled for choice. Chanderi, organza, velvet, satin, silk, cotton, chiffon, denim, brasso, mulmul, muslin, rayon, georgette... the list is endless.

They have dyed fabrics, printed fabrics, pleated fabrics and even embroidered fabrics apart from all kinds of Indian craft fabrics like ajrak, ikat, kantha, shibori, kalamkari, benerasi, dabu, bandhani and what not.

They stock fabrics for not just clothing but also for home decor.
